Wild Heart release day: a gift for my readers

It’s no secret I’m a music lover, so to celebrate the release of Wild Heart, book 4 in the Hollywood Hearts series, I wanted to share the songs that helped to inspire me while writing Faith’s story.

At the beginning of Faith’s story we find her celebrating a milestone birthday – her 40th. Now she’s not particularly thrilled about that particular number but her best girlfriends are determined to help her celebrate! They’ve put together a look back at Faith’s life and career with Green Day’s Good Riddance as a soundtrack:

Turning 40 is a bit too much for Faith, so she heads for the hills (literally!) She decides it’s time to take a much needed break from Hollywood and I imagined this was the song she had playing as she drove to Sonoma in Northern California. Have a listen to Follow The Sun by Xavier Rudd:

When she gets there, Faith discovers her quiet little hideaway isn’t as quiet as she envisaged. Enter Cole Cooper, a man she hasn’t seen for over twenty years. I thought this song titled Bridge Burning by the Foo Fighters embodied the intensity of Faith and Cole’s relationship perfectly. This live video was filmed in my beautiful hometown of Sydney in front of the Harbour Bridge. Love the Foo!

Now for an oldie but a goodie. I think of Cole when I listen to this. It exemplifies his go with the flow attitude brilliantly. He can’t stay away from Faith but he really does wonder why he continually punishes himself by putting up with her smart mouth!

Now who doesn’t love a bit of P!nk? Her heartfelt song Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken was too perfect not to include in Wild Hearts playlist. I think it captures Faith’s spirit beautifully:

One of the things I love about Faith is her determination. I’m not including any spoilers, but I will reveal there’s a scene towards the end of the book where she shows no fear. I had this song, Unstoppable by Sia, playing while I wrote it:

For Faith to get her happily ever after with Cole, she’s going to have to face up to some demons – and that includes accepting maybe she’s not as tough as she thinks she is. I’m finishing with Hannah Reid’s ethereal vocals on London Grammar’s song Strong:
